Letter of Appreciation to Dolly Robinson

Dolly Robinson accepting certificate of Appreciation

On this 8th day of January 2024, the Board of Directors of Lake City Columbia Community Tennis Association hereby recognizes its outgoing President Dolly Robinson. In 2014, a group of local tennis enthusiasts came together to form a grassroots organization to promote tennis and to lobby local governments for the construction of public tennis facilities. Dolly Robinson brought her love of tennis and her dedication to community involvement for the group that then formed as a Community Tennis Association (CTA).

Under Dolly’s leadership, the CTA was formed as a not-for-profit corporation in May 2015 under the name Lake City Columbia Community Tennis Association (LCCCTA). Along with the Charter, By-Laws were created, and the Board of Directors was established. The CTA joined the United States Tennis Association of Florida and secured appropriate insurance. Volunteers were invited to join and volunteer coach training was provided through USTA-Florida.

Dolly Robinson has faithfully served as President of the Board of Directors since its inception through January 2024. Under her leadership, the CTA has partnered with the City of Lake City, Columbia County Board of County Commissioners, USTA-Florida, Youth Tennis Foundation of Florida and Columbia County Tourist Development Council and a host of grant entities to see a new tennis facility located in Youngs Park that was dedicated on December 14, 2020 complete with four-lighted courts, a Pro-Shop, storage building and court equipment.

President Robinson stayed the course to have the county tourism and parks/recreation planners to commit to “a piece of dirt” for tennis courts to be included in the Master Plan for the County’s future Multipurpose Sports Complex. Under Dolly Robinson’s tenure as President, the CTA has organized and hosted 18 youth tennis camps and clinics with hundreds of kids being introduced to tennis. Organized adult league and social schedules are now very active. A senior ladies league has been playing typically three days per week on the new courts equipped and maintained for their play. A Veterans program has been provided to local VA patients. Tennis programs have been promoted and shared with local schools.

President Robinson has clearly dedicated herself to the promotion of tennis for youth and adults along with her community involvement for pursuit of more tennis court facilities. She has unselfishly given of her time and money in this endeavor for generations to enjoy. In recognizing her high level of promotion to the tennis community, the United States Tennis Association of Florida gave recognition to Dolly Robinson as the “Florida Tennis Volunteer of the Month” in August 2018.

During this meeting of January 8, 2024, the Board of Directors of Lake City Columbia Community Tennis Association hereby memorializes this Letter of Appreciation for the contribution of supporting and promoting tennis within Lake City and Columbia County to Dolly Robinson.
